  1. Hello Everyone,

My name is Alexander Hokanson. I am the Vice President of PEK-Eta Phi at the University of Wyoming. We are in the process of completing some goals for the fraternity, and I came across your chapter. I noticed how active you are and thought we could learn a lot from you. I was wondering if you have any materials you could share with us for recruitment, general marketing, or anything you think would be helpful in growing our presence on campus and volume as well.
I look forward to hearing from you and hope your semester is going well.

    Sincerely,

    Alexander L. Hokanson

    • Hi Alexander,

We are appreciative that you have noticed our efforts and hope your initiative to grow the fraternity is going well! This past year, we have put a larger emphasis on recruitment and general marketing which has helped expand our presence on campus and in the community.

For recruitment, we had sign-ups at the start of the semester for active members to speak to the introductory exercise science classes to introduce PEK and the benefits of being involved in the organization. We also held two informational meetings for students that were interested in which all the active members were present so they could get a sense of our community and the process of a general body meeting. In addition, our fraternity was represented at Truman’s activities fair and majors welcome which served as another opportunity for students to learn more, especially if they were not able to attend one of the meetings.

For general marketing for events such as our annual Glowstick Adventure Scramble, Moving Towards Health week, Relay for Life, and PEK tutoring, we advertise through campus posters, sidewalk chalk, writing on the whiteboards in classrooms, and social media.

I hope these ideas help accomplish some of your chapter’s goals and grow its presence. If you would like additional information about our fraternity in general or certain events we host, please feel free to ask. Likewise, if you have come across marketing ideas and/or events that have been successful in the past, we would also appreciate your input!

      Best regards,
      Emily Harl
      PEK Historian/Alumni Chair
